Job Description
The Compliance Analyst Senior is a key member of Nordstrom’s Legal team supporting various lines of business, including Nordstrom’s Loyalty Financial Services and Payments teams. The Compliance team is responsible for evaluating and reporting compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and internal policies, as well as the effectiveness of business management of operational and compliance and legal risks. To accomplish this, compliance analysts perform risk-based reviews of business processes and compliance and legal requirements. This role is essential for supporting the ongoing development, administration, and maintenance of our Compliance Management Program.
A day in the life…
- Identify compliance, legal, and operational risk areas, and evaluate the level of associated risk
- Develop and/or prepare risk-based test plans addressing various regulatory requirements, business operations, processes, procedures and internal controls
- Identify and collect documents, forms, policies, procedures, and other work product to be tested during assigned reviews
- Conduct meetings and interviews with business units, as necessary, to gain an understanding of business processes and procedures
- Apply auditing practices when performing reviews, which include developing criteria and transactional testing techniques, reviewing and analyzing data and processes, and documenting and preparing workpapers
- Communicate the results of reviews to various levels of leadership and staff via written reports and oral presentations
- Perform data queries and provide data and test sample analysis
- Review and approve workpapers completed by analysts for accuracy, completeness, and clarity
- Identify and document findings and partner with management to advise on compliance with applicable laws and make appropriate recommendations for corrective action
- Serve as a subject matter expert for business processes, systems, and products to Legal and Compliance and other business partners
- Collaborate with various business stakeholders in implementing and maturing the Compliance Management Program
- Create and/or update internal department procedures and participate in other administrative functions and special projects of the Compliance department, as necessary.
You own this if you have…
- 5+ years’ experience in compliance, legal, risk management, or internal audit.
- CIA, CRCM, or CAMS certification preferred
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to write data queries (SQL, SAS, Tableau) and effectively analyze and visualize large data sets to uncover anomalies and issues, convey compliance insights and support testing objectives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience communicating with all management levels
- In-depth knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations applicable to the financial services or retail industries including by not limited to TILA, EFTA, ECOA, FCRA, MLA, SCRA, BSA/AML, GLBA and UDAP/UDAAP
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and keep multiple projects and priorities on track simultaneously
